Terms and Fees
The cost of a
computer forensic examination varies greatly, and depends on a
number of factors, such as:
-
Number of
computers involved;
-
Complexity of
search criteria;
-
Complexity of
the desired results.
FCL
approaches each case on an individual basis.
The process
begins with a free initial discussion to determine what the client
actually needs and how FCL can respond to those needs.
FCL
will then evaluate the case and will produce an estimate for the
case based on the requirements identified to date.
Once the
examination has started it is often the case that new questions
arise or new evidence is discovered that leads to new requirements.
At this point a
revised estimate is delivered and the work carried out.
This cycle
continues until all work has been carried out to the client’s
satisfaction.
During this
process, FCL prefer to work with the client evaluating evidence or
clues as they become available as it is usually the client that
knows the intimate details of the case and the interaction between
the players. FCL cannot understand this to the same level as the
client at the initial stages – and to work in isolation, in FCL’s
experience, only leads to additional costs and possible missed clues
or pointers that the client would have recognised.
Detailed records
of all work undertaken is retained and the chain of custody is
clearly documented whilst any evidence resides with FCL. |
